形容詞的用法

形容詞(修飾名詞)

連綴動詞 1.變得 2.~起來。如：become

敘述用法=>放be動詞或連綴動詞之後，補充說明主詞

(例1) He is old and sick.

(例2) Mark became hungry after two hours' work.

(例3) Sea water tastes salty.( n. salt)

限定用法=>修飾名詞

Δ形容詞+修飾名詞

(例1) a useful book. (*ful結尾=>形容詞)

(例2) physical education (體育)

ΔSomething...等等+形容詞(後位修飾)

an important thing.

something important.

(例1) He eats nothing sweet.(不吃甜食)

(例2) Something terrible is about to happen.

(*is about to 即將)

(注意)

表示數量的形容詞

many + 可數複數名詞

much + 不可數名詞

=>a lot of / lots of (許多)

(例1) Did he make many mistakes on the test?

(例2) Is there much wine in the bottle?

*沒有固定形狀的都是不可數名詞

a few + 可數複數名詞

a little + 不可數名詞

=> some (一些)

(例1) These were a few children in the yard at that time.

(例2) I gave her a little trouble.

few + 可數複數名詞 =>not many (很少；幾乎沒有)

little + 不可數名詞 =>not much (很少；幾乎沒有)

(例1) He is a man of few words.

(例2) There is little hope of his recovery.

some(一些) => 用於肯定句

any(任何) => 用於否定句

(例1) He collects some foreign stamps.

(例2) There is not any tea in the cup. (not any=no)

(注意)勸人吃東西、請人幫忙或期待對方回答Yes時，問句也可用some。

(例1) Would you like some wine?

(例2) May I have some more coffee?

數詞

基數=>1、2、3

序數=>第1、第2、第3

13~19 thirteen~nineteen =>thirteenth~nineteenth

20~90 twenty~ninety =>twentieth~ninetieth

兩位數：基-序 例：twenty-one=>twenty-first

• 12,345 twelve thousand three hundred and forty-five

Δ小數：小數點為point

• 3.14 three point one four
• 27.08 twenty-seven point zero eight

Δ分數： 分子(=>基數)/分母(=>序數)，若分子超過1，分母加s

• 1/3 one third
• 2 3/4 two and three fourths

• 2000年 (the year) two thousand
• 1984年7月4日 July four(th), nineteen eighty-four

Δ時刻

• 6:15 six fifteen / a quarter past six
• 7:30 seven thirty / half past seven

數詞的慣用表現

Δ hundreds / thousands / millions of (數以百/千/百萬...計)

Δ 數詞-單數名詞=形容詞
