Mango Ice

If you love shaved ice, you could find a lot of ice stand in Taiwan. However, even most of them offer mango ice. The flavour of mango are totally different between the one in Taipei and Tainan. In Taiwan, the mango origin is Yujing Tainan. That is to say, you must come to Yujing for the REAL mango ice with REASONABLE PRICE. Fresh fruits and mango shaved ice, you will not live in vein. Recommend A-Yue mango ice in Yujing（玉井）, Tainan.

Dried Mango

One of famous souvenir from Tainan, Taiwan. Dried fruit is widely regard as a healthy snack. It also is better alternative snacks to candy or other junk food. Try to get some dried mango for present to your beloved family. Enjoy the flavour of mango whererever your are.

Popcorn chicken

Don’t forget the fried chicken stalls when you are in Taiwan. You could find so many stands on the night market or just on the street. They always offer a range of food like potato, chicken pie, popcorn chicken, taro, tempura, and so on. Recommend the popcorn chicken stand in Houbi（後壁）.

Radish cake

The radish cake from Cheng is the best cake I had ever in Taiwan! Tender inside, crispy on the top, just like have a lot of radish in your mouth LOL. Recommend the food store, Chen（誠）in Hsinying（新營）. Try to be a early bird or you will get nothing.

Iced tofu puuding, Douhua

Douhua is one of popular Taiwanese dessert in Tainan. Big scoops of tender tofu with sugar syrup on the top, just choose what you like to add, mung beans, tapioca balls or azuki beans, and so on. I always choose tapioca ball for ingredient! Recommend the dou hua stand in Don-sheng（東山）.

Meatballs, Bawan

Bawan is general street food in Taiwan. Even all of them are called Bawan, the stuffing, sauce are slightly different between cities in Taiwan. Steamed or deep-fried? I saw most of Bawan are deep-fried in Tainan. Not big deal, the most important is do not for get to ask broth to add in the bowl after you finish the meatballs. Really tasty. Meet your lovely Bawan in Tainan!

Don-shen duck head

Calm down, the shop called duck head does not mean you have to eat the duck head. They also offer braised snacks like, bird eggs, pork blood cake, cube of bean, tempura, and duck tongue. Recommend the famous braised snacks in Don-shen（東山）.

Mi Gao（米糕）

Totally different falvour from WaGan. You might find there are different topping between cities in Taiwan. Howerver, dried shrimp, Taiwanese dried mushroom, pork are always used in Mi Gao. Please put some sweet sauce and chili sauce, yummy yummy.

Savory rice pudding, WaGui

WaGui（碗粿）is rice cake embedded with some vegetables, eggs, dried mushrooms, and pork in the middle. Please squeeze some sweet chili sauce and garlic sauce, very Taiwan, very delicious. Recommend  A-Lan WaGui（碗粿蘭）in Matou（麻豆）.

Hei Chi Fish Soup

Miso fish soup NT100 (small): Not like the miso soup in Japan. We Taiwanese have our own miso style. Not that heavy, the flavour is sweeter than the one in Japan. You don’t want to miss the sea fish, only cook after you order. Pay the bill after you got all dishes.

Freshly baked Hakka pork belly NT50: One of dishes with reasonable price (I can’t imagine the price in Taipei.) Not that salty, but mouthwatering.

Marinated ground pork with rice NT20: Rouzao Fan, one more simple but addictive local cuisine. Just like the ban in Spain. Most Taiwanese love Rouzao Fan. Each cube of pork belly is soft and tender, especially the sauce on the rice, yummy.
