YILAN｜Honeymoon Bay : Let's Take a Romantic Stroll - ReadyGo

If you are looking for a place that can take a romantic walk in the sand while watching the ocean, there is a romantic bay in Yilan that must to your taste, Honeymoon Bay.

Located on a horseshoe-shaped cove, the southern edge of the small coastal town of Daxi has a small surfing beach known as Honeymoon Bay. Daxi is the perfect place to take a romantic stroll in the soft sand or chase the hordes of fleet ghost crabs that dwell there.

Waves are generally chest to head high, though during the summer typhoon months they can be over 3m high. Honeymoon Bay also offers surfing, with two- to three-meter waves, and national surfing competitions are held there annually. As at other popular surfing venues you’ll find board rental, and shops selling food and drink around the beach. Those more attuned to the land can take the path beside Mingshan Temple and climb to the top of the 441-meter Yingshi Peak, which provides sweeping views of the sea and the surrounding countryside. The climb takes about half an hour. Turtle Islandlies to the southeast of the crescent-shaped bay.

Daxi is also the end (or start) of the Caoling Historic Trail. The trailhead begins just north of town after you cross the bridge over the Daxi River.There’s an hourly train from Taipei (NT$101, 1½ to two hours). When you exit at Daxi, cross the road and walk south about 600m along the sea wall to reach the beach.
