每個聖人都有過去，每個罪人都有未來

一提起王爾德，大家心中會想起怎樣的形容詞或名詞呢？

大作家？天才？毒舌？

他身上的標籤千千萬萬。

「毒舌」這個標籤，卻是出了名的。

曾經有一個段子說，早在1881年，年僅27歲的王爾德坐船橫跨大洋來到美利堅，面對海關官員的例行檢查，他傲然地翻了個白眼說：「我沒有什麼可以申報的，除了我的才華。」

儘管這段歷史的真實性難以考證，但在他短短46年的傳奇人生里，王爾德留下了無數驚世駭俗又逼格甚高的妙句，通過他筆下作品中人物之口表達了他對這世界的種種不滿。細細品讀，你會發現他不僅是恃才傲物又舌燦如蓮花的毒舌天才，更是對所有事情都挑剔的典型「處女座」。

100多年前他漫不經心的一句話，成了100多年後微博上段子手們抖機靈的靈感來源：

「我年輕時以為金錢是世界上最重要的東西，等到老了才知道，原來真的是這樣。」

如果他活在今天，就算他沒有寫過那些才華橫溢的童話、小說和劇本，光靠每天發發微博，也一定能成為千萬冬粉的大V吧！

他嘲諷平庸的人。

1. 「努力不過是無事可做的人的避難所。」

Hard work is simply the refuge of people who have nothing to do.

2. 「糟糕的畫家總是欣賞彼此的作品。」

Bad artists always admire each other's work.

3. 「死亡和庸俗是十九世紀僅有的無法用巧辯逃避的東西。」

Death and vulgarity are the only two facts in the nineteenth century that one cannot explain away.

他問：「為什麼我會和這樣一些人生活在同一個時代？」

Why was I born with such contemporaries?

4. 「每次人們贊同我的時候，我都覺得自己一定錯了。」

Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong.

他嘲諷悲觀主義者。

「借錢就要向悲觀主義者借，因為他們不會期待你還錢。」

Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won't expect it back.

他嘲諷時尚。這句話即使放在今天，也是又尖銳又時髦：

「時尚總是丑得難以容忍，所以每隔六個月我們都只好改一次。」

Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.

他從不相信愛情和婚姻。

1.離婚的主要原因是什麼？結婚。
What is the chief cause of divorce? Marriage.

2.結婚是想象戰勝了理智，再婚是希望戰勝了經驗。
Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. Second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience.

3.已婚男人的快樂來自那些他沒有娶的人。
The happiness of a married man depends on the people he has not married.

他也嘲諷女人。

1、男人的臉是自傳，女人的臉是小說 (這句話應該是諷刺女人化妝吧)。
A man』s face is his autobiography. A woman』s face is her work of fiction.

2、不要給女人忠告；你不能給女人任何她晚上不能穿的東西。
Don't give a woman advice; one should never give a woman anything she can't wear in the evening.

3、女人是用來被愛的，不是用來理解的。
Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood.

4、如果一個女人不能把自己的錯誤變得迷人，那她就只是一個雌性動物。
If a woman can't make her mistakes charming, she is only a female."

5、一個人決不應該相信說出自己真實年齡的女人。如果她把這都說出來了，那她什麼都會說。
One should never trust a woman who tells her real age. If she tells that, she'll tell anything.

6、三十五歲是一個非常有吸引力的年齡；倫敦社交圈內滿是這樣好多年一直保持三十五歲的女人，她們可以自由地挑來選去。
Thirty five is a very attractive age; London society is full of women who have of their own free choice remained thirty-five for years.

編劇史航曾說「毒是捅人性弱點，舌是語言技術」，也許王爾德的毒舌，正是因為看透了人性。

1、擺脫誘惑的唯一方法就是服從它。除了誘惑，我可以抵抗任何東西。
The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. I can resist anything but temptation.

2、敵人造成的困難很容易忍受，朋友取得的成功卻讓人很難忍受。
It is very easy to endure the difficulties of one's enemies. It is the successes of one's friends that are hard to bear.

3、世界上只有一件事比被人議論更糟糕，那就是沒人議論你。
The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

4、人生的悲劇只有兩種：一種是沒有得到自己想要的東西，另一種是得到自己想要的東西。
There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.

5、一個人總是可以善待他毫不在乎的人。
One can always be kind to people one cares nothing about.

6、任何人都能對朋友的不幸感到同情，但要消受一個春風得意的朋友，則需要非常優良的天性。
Anybody can sympathise with the sufferings of a friend, but it requires a very fine nature to sympathise with a friend's success.

7、我喜歡看戲。與人生相比，戲劇更加真實。
I love acting. It is so much more real than life.

也有時候，他會突然收起毒舌，說一些正能量甚至是略帶雞湯味的話。

1、我想所有迷人的人都是被寵愛著的，這是他們魅力來源的秘密。
All charming people, I fancy, are spoiled. It is the secret of their attraction

2、每個聖人都有過去，每個罪人都有未來。
Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.

3、一個思想若稱不上危險，那麼它就不值得被稱作思想。
An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all.

4、我們都生活在陰溝里，但仍有人仰望星空。
We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the star.
