因為托福獨立寫作題目允許大家可以選擇「同意」或是「不同意」，相當於表示寫作題目一般都有「爭議性」的基本特徵。下面是上海托福考點小編匯總的托福獨立寫作的命題規律。

因為托福獨立寫作題目是可以讓考生選擇「同意」或是「不同意」，也就意味著寫作題目通常具有「爭議性」這一基本特徵，考生能夠的是選擇自己的觀點，而後再針對自己的觀點做論證。此外，有的獨立寫作題目有十分明顯的特徵，筆者總結了下面的3類，同時還給這3類考題提供一點寫作小方法。

第一，有的獨立寫作題目包含的關鍵詞有「should/should not」，對於這一類題目，上海托福考點小編表示考生不僅要選擇「同意」，同時還要選擇「不同意」。2010年8月14日的題目就是如此：「Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Students should not take part-time jobs when they study in university.」對於此類題目，考生寫作時可以以句式「Whether … or has been a controversial issue」開頭。例如，針對上面這道題目，考生可以在開頭寫道：「Whether students should take part-time jobs or not has been a controversial issue when they study in university.」

第二，有的獨立寫作題目包含有「all」「most」「best」這類表示絕對語氣的詞，針對這些包含有絕對語氣詞的題目，筆者建議考生還是選擇「不同意」為好。理由很簡單，這些題目根據邏輯而言無一例外都誇大了某一個要素的重要性，把其他要素的影響否認了，觀察問題看見的只是樹木不見森林。例如，2010年5月8日有一個獨立寫作題目是：「Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way for parents to teach children responsibility is to have them care for animals.」對於此類題目，考生可以在開頭段或結尾部分以這樣的句式亮明自己的觀點：「This argument exaggerates the importance of A and deny the significance of other factors such as B, C, and D which can also contribute to sth./sb.」

第三，另外有一類題目就把事物A和事物B進行比較，含有「… better/more … than …」等詞。例如，2010年6月13日出現過這樣一個題目：「Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It』s better to spend money on pleasant things such as vacations than to save money for the future.」針對此類題目，筆者一般提醒大家用如此的方式開頭：「Although A/B has some benefits for …, I still hold a firm belief that B/A will exert more significant influence on …」
