Mac Miller 在前天宣布自己的新專輯 Swimming 要在 8 月和大家見面，其實這張專輯出在這個時候，大家應該也都知道是因為和 Ari 分手的關係，整張專輯目前的歌曲名單看起來都非常的負面難過，而這首 Self Care 更是道出 Mac 的心情

在 2 年前的 8 月，Ariana Grande 和 Mac Miller 正式交往，當時引起了不小的風波，大家都不太看好這段感情，因為 Ari 總是很快速的會跟自己身旁的好友、合作夥伴在一起，也常常被說無縫接軌，不過這段感情卻成為 Ariana 最長的一段感情，直到今年 5 月 Ari 宣布分手，說兩人因為長時間不見，工作繁忙，感情已退，希望能做最好的朋友！不過最後被證實是因為 Ari 受不了 Mac Miller 的酒癮和一些情緒上的問題，導致最終的分手，當時 Ari 回覆粉絲的留言說到，沒有一個女友要成為男友的保母，我已經陪他走了很長一段路，一起解決酒的問題，但最終還是沒辦法，這是一個有毒的愛情，在分手後，Mac 馬上就因為酒駕出車禍被抓了，在這首 Self Care 裡面也可以發現 Mac 的生活全都圍繞在酒之上

在看著 Ari 風風光光的發了好幾首單曲後，沉默已久的 Mac 選在跟 Ariana 發行 God is a woman 的同一天，宣布自己最新的專輯 Swimming 及新歌 Self Care，在發布這首 Self Care 之前，Mac 在 IG 上說，酒就像一道牆一樣，他很後悔，自己沒能跨越這道牆，也很後悔自己所做的一切。在這首新歌中，描述著他這段日子以來的心情和生活，其中有很多是關於個人尋找及關係的確認，Mac 不斷的和 Ari 說，我還愛著妳，我只愛妳一個人，而妳，確定妳現在做的是對的嗎？
