I』m fine! 我沒事，其實我有事！

Most of us walk around saying we are "fine" every day. But what do we really mean?

I』m fine 這個看似簡單的句子背後卻有很多不用的意思，就像我們人說我沒事，其實事可大了去了！跟著Miss美語發音看幾個對話吧！

對話1

－How are you doing?

你好嗎？你怎麼樣啊？（常用的問候語）

－I』m fine. 還行吧。

這個時候 I』m fine 表示出一種不好也不壞的感覺，但是有沒想把話題繼續下去，so we say 「fine」 to avoid further questions. 是不想讓別人追問，明顯話裡有話嘛！

對話2

－What』s wrong? Are you okay?

怎麼了？你還好嗎？

－I』m fine.

從問話人的問話可以看出對方的情況並不好，至少跟往常不一樣，這時候回答者還是簡單的回答了I』m fine，回答者真實的感覺有一萬種不好的可能：I feel awful/scared/ashamed/confused/hurt….

不想表達真實感受的原因也有很多，it could be you don't want to make the person asking to feel uncomfortable, or you』re just too protective to share.

B: Babe, are you all right?

G: Yeah, I』m fine.

What girls really mean when they say, 「I』m fine」:

這個時候可別天真的以為你女朋友真的沒事！

以下可能僅供參考：

• She is not fine at all and you better find out what』s wrong in like 20 seconds. Or, a big fight is waiting for you.

  她很不好，而且不會告訴你為什麼，最好在她爆發之前趕緊找出原因。

• She is really pissed because you did something really, really bad.

  因為你做錯事，她很生氣。

pissed－憤怒的，生氣的，比 angry 要地道，程度深一點。

常用的一個短語: piss off－惹毛，使生氣（前面剛講過）

來幾個句子：

Don't piss me off! 別惹我！

My boyfriend pissed me off. 我男友惹我生氣了！

I』m pissed off! 我很生氣！（後果很嚴重）

• She is really needy and insecure.

  她很沒安全感，很想黏著你

• She is testing you to see if you can figure out exactly what she is thinking.

  她要測試你看你到底了不了解他

• She is actually saying 「I CAN』T believe you said that.」

  她明明覺得你說錯話，傷心了

• She wants to have a long conversation with you.

  準備好，她要發牢騷了

• She is starving!

• starving

  由動詞 starve 演變而來，意思是飢餓的，比 hungry 還要餓。

Super confusing for guys!

很多男生一聽到女生說我沒事就很苦惱，她到底有沒有事情呢？

男生們嘴上不敢問，心裡卻是這麼想的：

• I just don』t get it! It makes no sense!

  老子真的搞不懂！

• Why can』t you tell me if something is wrong?！

  你就不能告訴我我哪做錯了嗎？！

• What did I do?

  我到底做了什麼？

• Just tell me what is wrong!

  怎麼了？你倒是說啊！

tolerate－忍受，容忍

相同意思的詞和短語：stand, put up with, take, bear

「我不能忍了」可以有以下幾種表達：

★ I』m not tolerating this anymore.

★ I can』t stand it anymore.

★ I can』t put up with this.

★ I just can't take it anymore.

★ I can』t bear it anymore.

還有一個意思相近的，非常地道的口語表達

★ I』m fed up!

我厭倦了！

關於 bear 作為動詞，忍受的意思，還有一個常用的日常表達：

Just bear with me. 這個時候不翻譯成忍受我，而是耐心點！

It is a request for patience. If you ask someone to bear with you, you are asking him or her to hear you out, or to be patient.

• Fine - I』ve asked you six times; I』m not doing this again.

  老子都問你六遍了！到底想怎樣！

• You want me to read your mind? We』re in a relationship, not a library.

  要老子讀懂你的心思？我們是在談戀愛，不是圖書館好嗎!

除了 I』m fine 之外，fine 這個詞單獨使用的頻率也很高，而且意思也不相同

來幾個例子：

★ fine dining - 高檔的餐廳，正式的晚宴

★ fine wine - 上等的，高質量的葡萄酒

★ He is a fine young man. 他是個好青年

★ She sings fine. 她歌唱的很好（這裡 fine 用作副詞）

還有一個關於fine 的常用表達：fine by me 我能接受，對我來說不是問題，有點無所謂的情緒在裡面。

比如說你和你女盆友吵架，她提出一堆無理要求，最後你可以說一句: Fine by me.
