In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf.

在月光下，一枚小小的蟲卵躺在一片樹葉上。

One Sunday morning, the warm sun came out.

一個星期天的早晨，暖洋洋的太陽出來了。

And "POP!" out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

只聽「砰」的一聲，一隻又小又餓的毛毛蟲從蟲卵里爬了出來。

He started to look for food.

他開始四處找吃的。

On Monday, he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry.

星期一，他啃穿了一個蘋果，但他還是很餓。

On Tuesday, he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry.

星期二，他啃穿了兩個梨子，但他還是很餓。

On Wednesday, he ate through three plums, but he was still hungry.

星期三，他啃穿了三個李子，但他還是很餓。

On Thursday, he ate through four strawberries, but he was still hungry.

星期四，他啃穿了四個草莓，但他還是很餓。

On Friday, he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry.

星期五，他啃穿了五個桔子，但他還是很餓。

On Saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone,

星期六，他啃穿了一塊朱古力蛋糕、一個冰激凌甜筒、

one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami,

一個酸黃瓜、一塊瑞士乳酪、一片義大利香腸、

one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage,

一根棒棒糖、一塊櫻桃派、一根臘腸、

one cupcake and one slice of watermelon.

一個紙杯蛋糕和一片西瓜。

That night, he had a stomachache.

於是，那個晚上，他就肚子疼了。

The next day was Sunday again.

第二天又是星期天。

The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that, he felt much better.

毛毛蟲咬穿了一片鮮嫩的綠葉，然後他就感覺好多了。

Now he wasn't hungry any more, and he wasn't a little caterpillar any more.

現在他一點兒也不餓了，而且他也不再是那隻小小的毛毛蟲了。

He was a big, fat caterpillar.

他變成了一隻又大又肥的毛毛蟲。

He built a small house called a cocoon, around himself.

他建了一個叫做繭的小房子，將自己包裹在裡面。

He stayed inside for more than two weeks.

他在裡面待了兩個多星期。

Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out

然後，他從繭裡面咬了一個洞，鑽了出來...

and ... he was a beautiful butterfly.

這時候，他變成了一隻美麗的蝴蝶。
