陳棟，湖南湘潭人，這湖湘文化的發源地曾經孕育出了指點江山的領袖人物和幾多才華橫溢的文人墨客。湘水江畔那深厚鮮明的楚文化底蘊賦予了人們不懈追求的品質和崇尚完美的內涵，從而組合、建構出一種新的區域文化形態。

陳棟本身是一個比較內向的人，性格溫和略帶寡言，性不喜歡張揚且低沉。他的這種性格註定了他的繪畫價值取捨，他的作品里也深深的體現了這一點。儘管他使用的繪畫技巧而非獨特的水墨方式，但他較為深入的探索了「禪悅」的思維方式，通過「冥想」、「內觀」、「靈修」向心靈深處尋求一種解脫浮華的巨大能量，傾向於傳統的人文精神的追求。他的作品從一開始想到冥的狀態時，就常常從一個模糊、寬容的心態從生活中升華開來，形成一種在思想領域裡的多元空間，這種存在體現了多維度心理下的人的思想的不確定性。冥想的感覺，是解除心靈負累最好的一種方式，把時序的連慣性和思想創新的精神表現得無以復加的完美狀態。因而他的這種追求就促使他的藝術方向沿著自己的思緒發展，一直沒有脫離神秘的東方文化。

陳棟藝術簡介Chen Dong artistic profile

陳棟:68年生，湖南湘潭人，06年修學於藝術研究院油畫創作研完工作室。並代表當代藝術本土推進的力量在北京藝術區長達十年的探索，與國內國際所謂有影響的哪些著力於意識形態的批判和異國情調的當代藝術追求不同，認定的藝術在國際上必需呈現一種不同於西方的新語言類型和文化視覺，做至少要能達到世界層面哪種對等交流，中西融合到骨子裡的文化構建和推進版本。

現為當代藝術聯盟「犀」藝術群群主，湖南省美協綜合材料繪畫藝委會副主任，省油畫學會理事，湘潭綜合材料藝委會主任。綜合材料藝術作為國家新近以藝術文化創新為目標並積極推進的現代藝術門類，陳棟是此領域全方面積極全身心號召者與推動者。並應邀多次參加重要的國內外學術展事和文化藝術交流活動並獲得高層學術圈讚譽認同。在京其間成功舉辦數次個展。2015年應邀法國《世界和平藝術盛典》活動以綜合手段在二戰聖地諾曼底海灘策劃實施群體藝術行動《填海計劃》代表團藝術家獲得世界高度聲譽，作品被贊賞收藏。並獲得世界和平藝術使者證書。
