這兩個題目涉及的都是關於你家鄉交通狀況，你是否滿意整體的交通，還有就是公共交通設施如何。

1. What types of public transport are there in your hometown?

在回答這道題的時候，考生很容易一直舉例子，卻缺乏邏輯性或者深度，例如『There are many different kinds of public transportation in my hometown, such as buses, underground, trains, trams, ferries and so on.』 這種回答很難達到一定的長度，並且感覺沒有深度。

所以考生在這裡可以進行分類說明，類別可以有很多，比如高峰期in rush hours,人們喜歡什麼;或者根據路途的距離來分類，比如短程travel for a short trip,人們會選用什麼。這裡 我選用的類別是最受歡迎和最常使用的類別。

Actually, there are many different kinds of public transportation in my hometown, such as, trains, trams, ferries and so on. However, the most of popular and common one would be the buses and the underground as these two types of transport are very reasonable and economical. They are most people』s choices, especially the underground, you know, the price』s very affordable and that you will never need to worry about traffic jam or being stuck in the traffic by taking underground.

在這裡 我們補充一些，關於不同的公共交通設施的優點和缺點。

Buses:

very cheap / reasonable/ affordable/ economical 經濟實惠的

too crowd / hot/ noisy

Underground:

Reasonable prices 價格公道

avoid traffic congestion 避免交通擁堵

a little bit packed in the rush hours 高峰期有些擁擠

Trains:

Fast 快捷

be more expensive than buses 比公車貴

sometimes, not frequent enough 車次不是很多

some places cannot be reached 有的地方到不了

Trams

Urbanization 城市化

connect two cities 鏈接兩個城市

very fast and efficient 非常便捷

not flexible enough 不是非常的靈活

注意：taxi是private hire 並不算在公共交通工具中。

2. Are you satisfied with the traffic in you city?

這道題目依然可以延續使用分類法，就是可以想想在什麼情況下，你對家鄉的交通是滿意的，什麼情況下是不滿意，需要吐槽的。這樣就可以有效的延長你回答的長度，還有一定的邏輯性。

在這裡，我採用的是時間的分類，就是在大多數情況下，我對家鄉的交通狀況和設施是滿意的，只是在高峰時段或者一些交通要道的狀況不太滿意。

In general, I'm pretty happy with the transportation and traffic in my hometown. I mean the roads are quite wide and some transportation facilities are very advanced, especially the underground and buses, they look pretty new and clean all the time. But I do have something to complain, you know in the rush hours, the amount of cars increases very fast within a short time, some thoroughfares can be very congested. People who just finish their work cannot get a taxi or may waste a lot of time on going home.

另一個方向呢，就是考官會在part 3中和你討論各種各樣的交通工具，他們的優缺點和功能，以及人們為什麼選擇了這些交通工具。

要答好這些題目，我們需要了解一下public transportation和private transportation各自各優點和缺點。

public transportation

優點：

help people to save money

environmental friendly

In rush hours, buses can use bus lanes to run faster.

There is no need to worry about parking.

缺點:

not flexible enough

the environment cannot be very ideal

too crowed in rush hours

not very comfortable

not spontaneous 不夠自發的

private transport:

優點

very convenient

do not need to follow any time schedule

feel comfortable

show people』s social status

help people to improve their life qualities

缺點

can be expensive

find places to park

be bad for the environment

3. What are the advantages to society of having more people using public transportation?

這裡的好處可以從環保和停車問題去入手：

I guess there are many advantages to the society if everyone is trying to use public transportation. The most obvious one would be that the environment, especially the air quality will be much better and people will have the awareness of protecting the environment by changing some of their habits. Plus, there might be more spaces to use in places, like cities. Lands for parking can be used to build flats or houses for people to use.

4. Why do some people have to travel long distance to work every day?

這個題目可以考慮經濟因素，可能住處會便宜一些。 當然，公共交通比較便宜，也可以幫人們降低交通成本，讓人們選擇住遠一些，環境更好一些的地方。

The first reason comes to my mind is the lower price of houses and flats. If people』s working places are in city centers, it would be too expensive for them to live in some flats near their companies because the land price in centers is very high. However, if they choose to live a bit further from the center, say in suburban areas, the rents can be much cheaper. Besides, well-developed public transportation also makes it possible for people to travel long distance to work.
