2月3日，馬雲公益基金會撥款2600萬澳元（人民幣約1.36億元）在澳大利亞紐卡斯爾大學 (The University of Newcastle)，設立一個開創性的獎學金項目：馬雲-莫里獎學金 (The Ma & Morley Scholarship Program)。

外媒調侃：澳洲這個大學中了JACKPOT大獎！

曾被澳洲拒簽9次，仍舊鐘情於澳大利亞

只因對貴人的感恩之心

一切源自37年前，兩個異國小男孩的結緣。

1980年7月1日，Morley一家到杭州旅遊。父親Ken Morley是一位電氣工程師，退休不久，母親叫Judy，他們還有3個孩子，其中一個便是David Morley。

就在當年，馬雲在故鄉杭州結識了David Morley，當時小云云正痴迷於英文學習，而David這個來自澳洲的小外教，給了小馬雲非常Nice而給力的幫助。

後來，馬雲跟Daivd和其爸Ken都成為了要好的筆友。

1985年，Morley家邀請馬雲到澳洲遊玩，沒想到卻經歷了9次拒簽..... 在馬雲的堅持不懈合Morley一家的努力協助下，馬雲終於在第10次成功拿到簽證。那是少年雲第一次來赴澳，他後來回憶說，Morley家的男主人Ken Morley對自己的影響很大。

"以前我一直認為是世界上最富有的國家，"馬雲後來說，"在我到了澳大利亞后，我才知道根本不是那麼回事（現在貌似是了）。我開始覺得必須得用自己的頭腦去判斷去思考。"

雖說馬雲個頭不大，面對外國人時卻毫不怯場。在當地的一間會所，他非常主動活潑，還給那當地一個太極拳愛好者團體表演過功夫，比如猴拳和醉拳。

馬雲與Morley一家的友誼越來越深。後來，Ken帶著孩子到杭州回訪。因為家裡房子住不下，馬雲只好把客人們安排到大學宿舍。"我們在馬雲家裡吃晚飯，然後再騎車回學校。"斯蒂芬（David的兄弟）回憶道，"馬雲一直忙著給我們做飯，讓我們覺得很受優待。"

馬雲在大學時，經濟壓力很大。雖然有獎學金，但生活費也是不小的開銷，拮据的父母也是相當困難。沒想到，Ken主動提出資助馬雲。他回憶時說"錢並不多，也就5-10美元左右一周。每6個月我就給他寄一張支票。"

再後來，據說當馬雲和張英要結婚的時候，慷慨的Morley一家又雪中送炭，給這對新婚燕爾的佳人送去了2.2萬澳元（當時約合13萬人民幣），幫助他們買了第一套房。

2004年9月，Ken Morley去世前，馬雲也去看望了重病的Ken。

In the past 18 years, Alibaba』s focus has been on working with three groups of people: small businesses, young people and women. We believe these three groups of people are the future.

在過去的18年裡，阿里巴巴一直專註於與三種人合作：小企業，年輕人，和女性。我們相信這三種人就是未來。

It is the small business that is the center of innovation. It is the small business that creates the most jobs. It is impossible for big companies to double their head counts, but for each small business, adding one or two job opportunities is possible. And we believe that young people should have the future, we believe in empowering young people by using data technology. We believe the world is moving from IT to DT. DT means data technology. It is not Donald Trump.

小企業是創新的核心力量，小企業是大量工作崗位的創造者。對大企業來說，把員工數翻倍是極不可能的，而每個小企業都能增加一兩個崗位。我們認為年輕人應該擁有未來，我們相信年輕人正在使用數據技術我們認為世界正在從信息技術（IT）轉變為數據處理技術（DT）。

We believe that women are the most crucial workers in Alibaba, one of the secret sources of Alibaba is that 48 percent of colleagues in our company are women, and 34 percent of the senior management are women. We have women CEOs, women COOs, women CPOs (chief people officer), and we have women ambassadors like Zhou Lan.

我們相信女性是阿里巴巴創新的源泉。女性占阿里巴巴員工總數的48%，我們有34%的女性管理人員，我們有女性首席執行官，女性首席運營官，女性首席人才官，我們還有像周嵐這樣的"女性大使」。

So it is women that make the world different. I believe women care for the world, care for other people, more than men. Men care about jobs. Women care about their husbands, parents, kids, also their jobs. User friendly is the key, and women can do a better job in that.

女人們讓世界變得更好，我認為女人比男人更加關心世界，關心他人。男人們總是關心工作，女人除了工作外，還關心丈夫，家人和孩子。女人可以把工作做得更加完美。

We also believe the world needs globalization, the world needs trade. Trade is not about traders. Trade is about trust, trade is about cultural exchange. When trade stops, war starts. So we should empower the world with trade, we should empower the world with business, we should connect the world with business and trust.

我們還相信世界需要全球化，世界需要貿易。貿易並不僅僅是貿易往來，還是信任，還是文化交流，貿易結束日，戰爭開始時。所以我們認為世界需要貿易，我們應該用商貿和信任將世界維繫在一起。

So what Alibaba is doing is not about business, it is about connecting trust, it is about connecting friendship, it is about connecting understanding. Because we believe with trade, you cannot force people to do trade with you, you cannot force people to do business with you. You can only do business by building up trust together. So I think the opportunity is huge.

所以阿里巴巴所做的不僅僅是商務，而是維繫信任，維繫友誼，維繫互相理解。因為我們相信你不能強迫別人同你進行貿易，你不能強迫別人和你做生意，只有通過建立互信，才能做好生意。所以我認為機遇無限大。
