【今日長難句】

According to the theory, the universe burst into being as a submicroscopic, unimaginably dense knot of pure energy that flew outward in all directions, emitting radiation as it went, condensing into particles and then into atoms of gas. Over billions of years, the gas was compressed by gravity into galaxies, stars, plants and eventually, even humans.

【結構解析】

1. 首句中，according to the theory 為狀語成分；句子主幹為 the universe / burst into/ being; as a submicroscopic, unimaginably dense knot of pure energy 為being的同位語，解釋其內容；

2. that flew outward in all directions… 為定語從句，修飾dense knot of pure energy; emitting radiation as it went, condensing into particles and then into atmos of gas 為定語從句的伴隨狀語。
