劇情提要：19世紀的歐洲，史柏麗王國裡出現了一座會移動的城堡。蘇菲被軍官搭訕時意外被霍爾搭救。當荒野女巫得知霍爾與蘇菲見面時，而對她下了瞬間變老的詛咒。一夜之間變成九十歲老婆婆蘇菲決定離家遠行。

蘇菲（ソフィー・ハッター）18歲，以長女的身分代替繼母哈妮繼承父親遺留下來的哈達帽子店，蘇菲並不是一個對自己有自信的人。被荒野女巫施以詛咒成為老婆婆的蘇菲意外撞進入霍爾的移動城堡，成為城堡清潔婦的。

 

霍爾（ハウル）是是移動城堡的主人，嚮往自由自在的生活，但受國家徵召而時常變身成巨鳥形的怪物穿梭於戰場。會因被女孩子拒絕而發脾氣。霍爾其實是個很膽小的人…..少年時與火魔卡西法訂下契約….

 

Synopsis: Sophie was an introvert girl who works diligently without any ambition after inheriting his father’s millinery shop.
One day, she was accosted by a couple of soldiers who tend to harass her and she was saved by a passing stranger “Howl.” Howl leaps high into the air and walking on air above the town square and Sophie is delivered safely to her place. On the evening Sophie returned, the Witch of the Waste leaves Sophie with a spell.

 

The next day, Sophie realizes that the Witch of the Waste has transformed her into a ninety-year-old old lady. Sophie shuts herself inside her room in the excuse of sickness. Gathering some provisions, Sophie sneaks out of town. Seeking to break the witch’s curse, Sophie moved into Howl’s moving castle in the role of a cleaning lady. Meanwhile, Sophie’s nation is caught up in a war with a neighboring kingdom. The King summons Howl to fight in the war. However, Howl is a coward who lacks the courage to fight for its country….
