If you are looking forward to learning Japanese and Chinese, you’ve come to the right place! For most westerners, the most difficult part of Japanese is Kanji, literally Chinese characters (漢字). I will show you vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and common phrases used in daily conversations. You will get to know how to speak, read, and write Japanese and Chinese by following my blog.

Japanese grammar is easy to understand. Let’s start with basic Japanese first.

English	Japanese (In Kanji, Hiragana)	Chinese 中文
Nice to meet you. How’s going?	始めまして。お元気ですか。 =はじめまして。おげんきですか。	初次見面，你好嗎?
I am good.	はい、元気です。	(恩!) 我很好
I am doing well.	はい、とても元気です。	(恩) 我過得很好
Explanation: Japanese sets up typical universal greetings and responses for daily conversations, so it is relatively much easier than Chinese-learning. Japanese makes the sentences quite simple and they complicate the sentence when they try to show respect to the listener. Basically, Japanese can be divided into two types, formal form and normal/or informal form. The former shows different levels of politeness, usually used in the workplace or to the elder. The latter is used for close friends and family members.

Self-Introduction:

English	Japanese (In Kanji, Hiragana)	Chinese 中文
My name is ______	Casual term 私は______と言います =わたしは______といいます	我的名字是….. (非正式用語)
	Formal term 私は______と申します =わたしは______ともうします	我的名字是…. (較正式的說法)
What is your name?	あなたのお名前は？ =あなたのおなまえは？	您的名字是?
Nice to meet you. No particular meeting, simply to show politeness and usually inserted in the end of the sentence.	宜しくお願いします。=よろしくおねがいします	請多多指教
